Twisted Ambitions Yarn Care

Twisted Ambitions Yarn recommends to hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry. Some light bleeding may occur during the first few washes. If working with highly saturated purples, pinks, or reds, it is best to avoid working them with pale colors.

I don't recommend soaking your yarn before use or rinsing it with vinegar, as these steps are unnecessary and do little to prevent dye bleeding.

The dyes uses requires heat and acid to bond with protein-based fibers. When you wash your garment, you might notice some color in the water, but this doesn’t mean it will transfer to lighter yarns.

For best results, I recommend using cold water and a drop of mild detergent, as it's the safest option.

Please keep in mind that reds and whites don't mix well, whether hand-dyed or not. It’s always a good idea to swatch first!

Reds, pinks, and purples are more likely to stain white or very light-colored yarns, with pinks being particularly notorious for bleeding in the textile industry. I recommend avoiding pairing these shades with very light colors.

Twisted Ambitions Yarn is firmly against the practice of mulesing and ensures that suppliers only provide mulesing-free wool. All yarn is ethically sourced from South America, where working conditions are fair and non-exploitative.

Twisted Ambitions Yarn uses non-toxic acid dyes and is dedicated to minimizing waste throughout the dyeing process.

To set the dye, Twisted Ambitions Yarn uses food-grade citric acid, which is naturally found in food and water and readily biodegrades, resulting in no significant negative impact on the environment.

At Twisted Ambitions Yarn, I’m deeply committed to sustainability and strive to minimize my environmental impact through thoughtful practices. Here’s how I handle reduction, reuse, and recycling:

1. Reduction
I focus on reducing waste by carefully managing my dyeing processes and packaging materials. This helps ensure that I use only what is necessary and avoid excess.

2. Reuse
While I make every effort to reuse boxes, I always use new internal packaging to maintain hygiene and product quality. This ensures that every order you receive is fresh and in excellent condition.

3. Recycling
Twisted Ambitions Yarn recycles all cardboard that comes from suppliers. Additionally, I use cellophane bags that are 100% recyclable and poly-mailers that can also be recycled. By choosing recyclable materials, I work to minimize waste and support a healthier environment.

Through these practices, Twisted Ambitions Yarn is dedicated to making environmentally conscious decisions and continually improving my sustainability efforts.

What do you use to rinse yarn?

An unscented wool wash is used for rinsing all yarns.

Can you wind my yarn?

We offer yarn winding services for $3 per skein. Simply add the cake winding service to your cart, available on the home page under the 'Info' tab.

You are sold out of a color I would like, will you dye more?

If the color you’re inquiring about is a regular Twisted Ambitions Yarn colorway, yes we will. Please fill out the contact form for any inquiries.

Do you accept wholesale orders and do you do Trunk Shows?

Can I place a custom order?

I’m happy to accept custom orders! To place one, simply navigate to the 'Custom Dye Order' section in the main menu. Please note that a 10% surcharge applies to orders of 3 or fewer skeins per colorway. Also note before purchasing that the shipping times are 3-4 weeks.

How can I pay?

We accept payments through credit/debit cards and PayPal. Your payment details are securely processed and stored by a trusted third-party service, ensuring your information remains confidential.

Domestic

Domestic shipping can take up to 5 business days.

If item(s) purchased are a "pre-order" or a "dyed-to-order" listing, item(s) usually ship within 2-3 weeks. Specific details can be found in the product descriptions.

Orders are shipped using USPS, First Class, or Priority depending on weight and customer selection.

Tracking numbers are provided and ONLY Priority orders have insurance.

We are not responsible for lost, delayed or stolen packages.

If your package succumbs to any of these unfortunate events, first contact your local post office.

International
Foreign shipping could take up to 14 business days.

Orders are shipped using First Class or Priority depending on weight. Tracking numbers are provided, but detailed tracking is only available by choosing Priority.

We are not responsible for lost, delayed or stolen packages.

We are not responsible for any custom or duty fees. We do not have any knowledge of what these might be. Shipping charges will not be refunded if you decide to refuse your package for any reason.

Due to global supply chain challenges, shipping times could be longer than usual.

Can I return my order?

If you have a problem with your order, please contact us within 14 business days of receiving your order and be sure to include your order number.

Returns are only accepted on yarn untouched, undamaged, and in its original package.

The buyer is responsible for return shipping unless there was an error on our end.

Sales items, custom orders, pre-orders, club yarns, and dyed-to-order listings are not returnable.

Items must be sent back to us within 30 days of purchase, refunds will then be given once the return arrives.

How to Return an Item

    Place your item(s) back in the original packaging or a secure, waterproof package with all labels and tags still attached.

  3. Postage Proof
    Return your package via the Post Office and be sure to obtain proof of postage. Avoid dropping your package in a post box without proof of postage. Keep this proof safe, as it may be needed as evidence of your return.

If you wish to exchange, it is best to purchase the yarn you’d prefer and return the original yarn for a refund.

Custom orders are not eligible for refunds or cancellations.

To ensure that you are eligible for a refund, please refrain from using any items that you believe are faulty until the issue has been resolved.
