Twisted Ambitions Yarn Care & Info
All yarn is hand-dyed in small batches using consistent dye recipes. Due to the nature of the dyeing process, natural variations occur from skein to skein, making each hank unique. We recommend purchasing enough skeins to complete your project.
Some colorways may produce pooling or patterning depending on stitch count and gauge. When working on larger projects, alternating skeins every few rows is recommended to help distribute color evenly throughout the fabric.
We make every effort to represent colors as accurately as possible. Please note that colors may vary slightly due to differences in monitors, screens, and display settings.
DYE PROCESS
We dye our yarn using professional acid dyes from Dharma Trading Co. and PRO Chemical & Dye, set with food-grade citric acid. pH levels are carefully monitored to ensure full dye exhaustion and proper fiber bonding.
All dye baths are neutralized and rendered non-toxic prior to disposal, following manufacturer SDS guidelines. Yarn is rinsed with a wool-safe wash and hung to dry.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY TWISTED AMBITIONS YARN?
We recommend hand washing finished projects in room-temperature water using a mild, wool-safe detergent. Gently squeeze out excess water and lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight.
Some colorways—especially highly saturated pinks and reds—may release a small amount of excess dye during the first few washes. To avoid color transfer, we recommend not pairing highly saturated shades with very light or pale colors in the same project.
When using multiple colors together, it’s best to swatch and soak first to ensure the colors do not affect one another.
BARE YARN SOURCE
All Twisted Ambitions Yarn isethically sourced from mulesing-free farms in South America. Our yarn is supplied through aU.S.-based suppliercommitted to responsible sourcing and quality standards.
OUR SUPERWASH YARNS
Our superwash yarns are processed at mills accredited by EU Flower and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, with advanced effluent treatment systems that recycle water and ensure responsible discharge.
The superwash process reduces felting by smoothing the wool’s outer scales and applying a microscopic, permanently bonded treatment that maintains softness, durability, and excellent dyeability. This allows our yarns to be more washable while preserving the qualities we value in fine wool.
According to information provided by our yarn suppliers, the superwash treatment used biodegrades rapidly in compost and marine environments, leaving no lasting residue. We choose this process to balance long-lasting performance with responsible manufacturing—making wool more accessible for everyday wear without compromising our environmental standards.
Care note: While superwash yarns are more washable, we still recommend gentle hand washing and laying flat to dry for best long-term results.
